WASHINGTON AND LEE UNIVERSITY

Careers

More and more, companies are looking for intelligent graduates who can think and write well. A job often begins with a training program in which they learn the specific skills needed in that field. The analytical and writing skills our history graduates develop in their history major stand them in very good stead.
Washington and Lee History graduates have a very high rate of placement in promising positions in business and finance. Some teach history in fine secondary schools. Others go on to graduate programs in, for example, history, information management, medicine, and law. Others still go on to careers in government and diplomacy.
Our Career Services office at W&L has extensive resources to assist students with career choice, internships, networking with alumni, job placement and graduate school. Their office on the ground floor of Mattingly Hall is lively and very helpful. The Career Services web site is well worth exploring.
